Dr. Sue Mansour
Dr. Sue Mansour and her husband Cyrus are the owners of Best Friend Veterinary Hospital and Pet Lodge. They designed the facility to have a lodge look and feel so that clients and four-legged guests alike would be comfortable during their visit with us.
Dr. Sue received her DVM degree from the University of Florida. She has 3 sons and enjoys volleyball, golf, piano, skiing and traveling. She has 2 ragdoll cats: Mia and Valentino; Pee Wee: the feisty little chihuahua; Blue: an adorable pit bull terrier; a ball phython; and Bella, the parrot who can be heard squawking, singing, or calling out “Go Gators” in the office!
Dr. Courtney Lesnick
Dr. Courtney Lesnick joined Best Friend Veterinary Hospital in 2013. She was raised in Texas, then acquired a BS in Biology from Randolph Macon Womans College in Lynchburg, VA in 2000. She went back home to Texas to go to Vet school, and graduated from Texas A&M in 2004. Dr. Lesnick was part of the Military Health Professions scholarship program and served in the army for 3 years. She then got married to her husband Josh Hoerner and practiced in New Jersey for 5 years. She felt the need to return to her southern roots, and moved to Georgia in March of 2004. She currently lives in Athens with her husband and 5 cats. Her interests are feline medicine and General Surgery.
Dr. Sara Slagel
Dr. Sara Slagel is a graduate from North Carolina State University, where she received her BS in Biological Sciences, her PhD in Comparative Biomedical Sciences, and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She grew up in the Appalachian Mountains, and as a second generation veterinarian, has long fostered her love of animals and medicine. After graduating veterinary school, she worked at her father’s veterinary practice in Pennsylvania, but recently moved to Athens, GA, as her husband began a PhD in Nutrition at the University of Georgia. Dr. Slagel currently splits her time between research at UGA and practicing at Best Friend Veterinary Hospital; and enjoys rock climbing, running, biking, backpacking/hiking, and kayaking in her spare time. She currently has two Germans Shepherd dogs at home along with two mischievous cats.
Dr. Angela Earick
A native of Massachusetts, Dr. Earick received her BS in Animal Science at The University of Massachusetts at Amherst. After moving to Georgia in 2004, she worked as an anesthesia technician for a year at The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine before graduating veterinary school in 2009. Her passions in veterinary medicine include internal medicine and soft tissue surgery. When she is not in the clinic, she and her husband, Chris, share their home with their four dogs – Bruin, Violet, Emma and Fin and four cats – Bailey, Daisy Mae, Phoebe and Rufus. She enjoys gardening, crocheting, art collecting and traveling along with being an avid hockey fan (go Bruins!!).
Stacy Yarberry is the Office Manager at Best Friend Vet Hospital. She is also a Vet Assistant, and Receptionist. She has been with Best Friends for 6 years. Stacy shares her home with 3 dogs and 2 cats.
Jennifer Mauney is a Veterinary Technician and has been with Best Friend Veterinary Hospital for over 10 years. Despite having pet allergies, Jennifer loves animals! She and her husband Randy share their home with 8 dogs and 2 cats and 2 children. Jennifer is working on her AA degree in Veterinary Technology. She is very energetic, hard-working and dedicated to excellent patient care.
Laura Yount is a Veterinary Technician. She’s a little quiet at first but is dedicated and hard-working. She has been with Best Friend since August of 2007. She is currently working on her Associate degree in Veterinary Technology. She is married and has 2 children. She has 3 dogs; Affinity, Rocky and Xara. Laura enjoys being involved with her children’s sports and cheerleading activities..
Amy Harris is a kennel Assistant at Best Friend Vet, she has been taking care of our boarding guests for over 10 years and has her B.S. degree in exercise science at North Georgia College. Amy has a sweet cat named Joe and she enjoys playing softball, listening to music, movies and spending time with friends.
Tammy Parsons is one of our groomers. Her goal is to make you Ooh and Ahh when you pick up your pet from grooming! She has been with Best Friends for over 10 years. She is married, Grandma to one year old twins, Bodhi and Eli, has 3 children Brandon, Adrian and Mercy. They have 2 dogs; Baxter and Suzy May.
Jenilee is a Veterinary Technician. She has been with Best Friends for over a year now. Jenilee and her husband share their home with their 2 dogs, 1 cat, and 2 children. She enjoys horseback riding and spending time with her family.
Mary is a Veterinary Technician at Best Friends and has been with us for over a year. Mary is currently studying to be a Veterinarian. Mary adores her Shepherd mix Cara and is a dedicated Redskins fan. Mary has a constant smile on her face and makes us all laugh with her cute cartoon voices when she talks to the patients!
Jenni is a Veterinary Technician and has been with us for almost a year. She and her husband David love to camp, kayak and travel. They have 2 dogs and 1 cat. Jenni is known for her love for animals and will make your pet feel right at home.
Shelby has been a technician for a little over 2 years now and she is hoping to attend veterinary school in the future. She has two dogs, Miller and Elvis, and in her free time she likes to kayak and spend time with friends.
Marie is our Assistant Manager and has been with us over a year. Marie is dedicated to pet rescue and has a gigantic heart. She is full of southern charm and will make you feel at home as soon as you walk in with your pet. Marie and her husband currently share their home with 3 dogs and 3 cats.
Kelly is a Receptionist at Best Friends and has been with us for about 2 years. Kelly has 2 dogs and 2 children that keep her on her toes. Kelly enjoys horseback riding and being involved in her kids sports activities.
Bree is a Receptionist at Best Friends and has been with us a little over a year. She is currently training for the National Physique Competition despite her Multiple Sclerosis. Bree has a very big heart and loves all our patients. Bree and her boyfriend share their home with their 6 dogs.
Kim is a Pet Stylist at Best Friends and has been with us over a year. Kim is very detail oriented and goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable leaving your pet in her care.
Stephanie is a Georgia native and graduate of the University of Georgia. She completed her undergraduate studies in Wildlife Biology in 2009 and went on to an internship with the Georgia DNR monitoring sea turtle nesting on the Georgia coast. She also spent a summer caring for injured and orphaned wild animals at a wildlife rehabilitation sanctuary in Texas. Stephanie began her veterinary assistant career in 2013 and has been at Best Friend Veterinary Hospital since December 2016. She lives in Flowery Branch with her boyfriend, her dog Annie and her cat Minnie. In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys teaching dog training classes, watching football, and spending time with her friends, nieces, and nephews.
Cynthia recently joined the Best Friend Vet team and is a veterinary technician. She is an Atlanta native, recently relocating to Flowery Branch. Cynthia started as a kennel tech at 15 years old. Since has gained 12 years of experience as a vet technician. Currently Cynthia is studying for her associate degree for Veterinary Technician. In her spare time she enjoys traveling and, the outdoors preferably the beach! She is mom to two children and feline fur baby Gary.
Angie loves to share her love for pets with her three children and husband. They have a shihtzu named Maggie and a cat named Bella. They live in Braselton, and her children are students at Chestnut Mountain Elementary where she spends a lot of her time volunteering. When she has free time she enjoys going to church, walking and hanging outdoors with her family.
